Reading this at 4am and weeping. Thank you for these words. I have lost multiple faith communities and feel so alone. The grief is near constant. I needed this so much. Thank you.

As someone who grew up in a low-liturgy environment, I struggle to find the Eucharist meaningful, especially because we're always called to confess our sins before partaking. I always end up wracking my brain for something to confess--selfishness, not doing enough to love neighbor or family, but it feels arbitrary/artificial. I find the idea of individual sin to be confusing and not helpful. Wondering if you have thoughts/advice on entering more fully/meaningfully into the Eucharist?

I don't focus on personal sins but on the overwhelming meaning of the goodness of God to us in Jesus, his suffering, his love, his presence for us and in us, and my desire to respond in gratitude and love.

The Emmaus Road Story is my favorite story in the Bible. "Didn't our hearts burn within us...." always sparks a feeling of awe when I read it. Thanks for this, David.

Excellent message! So in line with spiritual formation, a practice so badly missing from many of our churches. Thank you!
